✩ the open markets
( the markets are one of the first places that Una finds herself, the first goal that she had in mind: she needed supplies, she needed to know where things were or what she had access to. and she was hungry. the missing time on the enterprise might have skipped over in their memories but not in her stomach and whilst she didn't know what was possible on this planet -- did replicators exist, were there food kiosks or was it simply a market of ingredients for her to cook?
the street food ends up being the first place that she finds, able to smell out the stalls whilst taking note of the shops that she passes. clothing would... be interested based on what was in the windows of shops but nothing that seemed outrageous or impractical. anything else she hadn't yet managed to come across.
she ends up with some sort of sandwich, not entirely certain what it is but she's in a new place and giving it a try, finding herself somewhere to sit to eat it whilst trying to figure out a plan, of where to browse and what she'd feasibly be able to get herself set up with )
✩ cyborg
( it's later in the day when una ends up in the coffee shop, when it's not yet quite a pub atmosphere but quiet enough that she can enjoy her coffee, can do a little bit of research on the computers before sitting back to enjoy the music and digest what she's learned.
although that doesn't amount to much. it's a strange new world, strange being key, she's not seen a world quite like this before. she'd tried to look up information on magic, on the chips, on the parties involved but she either didn't get much or ended up with more questions than she'd started with. maybe talking to people would be her solution?
the music is at least enjoyable, giving her the opportunity to watch the people that pass through or stay, to seek out any (newly) familiar faces that she's met within her last few days. her next few weeks are going to be a long road )
✩ vr
( it's more than she's come across before, more realistic, more options... just more. she's seen some of the battle and training simulations that are offered, that are used for training and that have developed over the years but having access to something like this for more recreational means... it's much better than the holograms they had (or used to have) for communication purposes. the people seemed real, felt real, and she could smell the sights around her.
she'd opted for a scenery, somewhere to walk, to just look at what this was capable of recreating rather than any of the visual novels or training rooms that she'd seen offered. it makes una wonder whether she'd be able to program it with something of her own, if she could create her own simulation.
for now, she takes a walk, eventually finding somewhere to sit under a tree and enjoy the sights around her. a sight far different from the camp and markets, from how she'd been rescued. and this could easily make you forget what was on the other side )
✩ wildcard
other places that una would likely to be include the magic markets [curiosity and confusion], xin night market and vr [other scenarios]. i'd also love to do some mini missions but would like to discuss them first?
✩ the new arrivals
she'd made certain to keep an eye on the security features that she could see, taking careful and steady steps down each turn and corridor that she walked in hopes of actually finding her way to an exit.
the next turning had her stopping, ducking back around the corridor when she saw what looked like a guard up ahead. she backtracked, steps a little quicker taking her to the door that she'd seen a few meters down that same corridor, hoping that as she pushed at it that it a) wasn't locked and b) didn't have anyone behind it )

This particular somebody was busy attempting to sneak into the facility. He'd actually already made a couple of trips, despite the glaring he'd received from various people. However, just when he thought they had everybody he would hear whispers of more still locked within the Sylphid walls.
This was his third or perhaps his fourth foray into the building. At his hip was clipped a metal cylinder, about the length of his forearm and in his hand was one of the pistols provided by the Witches. It was a clumsy weapon and he used it only to encourage Sylphid guards to keep their heads down, but it was still drawn and possibly looked threatening as he yanked open the door around the same moment she pushed?
This was going to end in tears, wasn't it? ]

she's not inclined to violence, it's why her moves are defensive, trying to disarm him and get the upper hand rather than knocking him out. than and without the strength she's used to having, the chip keeping her at baseline human levels, it's certainly more of an effort on her part to try and push him back )
no subject
Actually, there was that incident with Leia. Eh not important! ]
Ooof. [ He grunted, only barely managing to hold on to his pistol as it was knocked aside. He followed the motion, rather than release his hold, which put him out of position and her shove sent him stumbling back a few steps further.
Still on the back foot, he turned his own retreat into a quick inward spin, trying to let her move past him but to catch her by the arm and push her up against the wall so he could get a better look at her. He wasn't trying to hurt her, just figure out if she was a guard or what was going on. ]
no subject
Who are you?
( he was humanoid, though she didn't know anything of the captors, even the name of the sylphid. she'd only caught a brief glimpse of the guards from behind and it wasn't enough )
no subject
You don't look like a Sylphid guard, they're usually armed. [ He says the words as a statement, though there is an unasked question in them. Was she a guard, perhaps a Sylphid worker, or ...? ]
no subject
( there's a mildly confused expression on her because she certainly has no idea who or what a sylphid is, never having heard of them )
Are you?

Turning his attention to the barista welcoming them in, he places an order for his usual coffee and turns to scan the interior of the venue as he waits for Spock to make his choice. Thankfully it is not too busy at this time in the day so there is plenty of seating, and there appears to be no familiar faces either.]
Let's sit at that table in the corner, there's more space.
[Because he fully intends to open up their bag of technological junk and play around with it while they enjoy their drinks.]
no subject
He's found some unique circuit boards and that is the first thing he pulls from his own bag to examine in the brighter light of the shop. ]
I will have to test what this can handle, but I may be able to make something like a rudimentary scanner if I can find the right pieces.
no subject
she picks up the coffee that she's halfway through drinking, taking it over to their table, hearing over the last of their conversation )
You'll have to be careful with the power source.
( whilst una doesn't know the man that he's with she also fully expects spock to recognise her, offering advice from her engineering knowledge rather than falling into the surprise of him being here )
Using it too often will quickly fry some of the circuitry.
no subject
[He gestures to their pile of goodies, sorting through it as he begins to make separate piles for circuit boards, wiring, and for full devices which can be stripped for parts. Actually building something with it is outside of his expertise, but he can provide a little help.]
We'd been working on one before, or rather B'Elanna had. The first one seemed to overload too quickly and blew up in our faces. So I don't know if that--
[He had been about to say that perhaps it needed a better power source, however he was beaten to it by the stranger who just decided to waltz on over and get into their business.]
..Yeah, that's what I was about to say? [More or less. Jim glances over to Spock as if silently asking if he knows her, before watching as she seems content enough to take up residence at their table, his expression a mixture of amusement and puzzlement.]
Hello...?
no subject
He regards her with a raised eyebrow before gesturing with a sharp tilt of his head to the empty seat at their table. ]
I take it you have experience wiring or programming with such parts?
[ If she'd like to contribute, he's interested in hearing what she has to say. ]
no subject
You know that I do.
( it earns him a frown and kirk minorly gets ignored for a moment in her confusion at why spock doesn't know her. he's not as young as when she first met him, certainly more world-travelled from how he speaks... )

✩ the open markets
Scattered among the crowded stalls are seating areas that are filled - except for the one by the Doctor. Maybe it's his general grumpiness or maybe it's the angry eyebrows. Or maybe it's how he's kind of, maybe intentionally, taken up most of the table space with a notebook and his own food. Any of the above could be taken as a deterrent, but either way, there is a vacant seat next to him if Number One is willing to go up and ask him if it's free.]
no subject
Can I?
( she passes her hand from one hand to the other, it hot despite the paper covering it, not yet cooled enough to comfortably hold nor even yet eat )
no subject
Well I wouldn't want a good sandwich to land on the floor and go to waste. [He motions to the seat, pulling his notebook back towards him and his own plate of something that look like dumplings.] Better for it to fall on the table.
no subject
( but she's grateful for the shared table anyway )
How is the food?
( before she bites her sandwich. good or disappointment waiting to happen? )
no subject
The dumplings though - delicious. What's the verdict on your sandwich?
no subject
Mildly questionable. Edible, probably not something I'd order again.
( needs more spice and less strange meats )
But I've had worse new experiences.

✩ harley quinn
( if una had asked there'd been a lot of other information thrown around as well, though una could honestly say that since she'd arrived there'd been a lot of information passed her way. not that she was complaining but some of it was very new, very alien and she didn't quite know what to do with it.
but sitting in the atv waiting for it to get to their destination so they can drop supplies gave her some time to digest it all. right? )
no subject
[Leaning in a little to show her newly randomly assigned partner in the mission her phone - a neat thing that folds from a phone into almost a tablet - where she's pulled up a map of the jungle that the Witches had provided. The phone is unfolded and the screen is big, so it's easy to see where the little outpost they're going to is in relation to where they are.
Harley still points it out though, just in case.]
D'you wanna drive or ride shotgun?
no subject
( she probably should have gotten someone to show her how to use the atv before accepting the mission but una figured she'd be helpful in other ways. she's a great pilot which would translate to this... if she know how to use it )
I'm pretty sure I can direct you.
( the map helps )
no subject
[Harley crosses over to the ATV and slides on, expertly flicking the starting switch and familiarizing herself with the location of all the various controls. Shifting her butt a little, she gets comfortable in the driver's seat.]
I'm sure you can too. But you gotta keep an eye out for wildlife and stuff. Last time I drove on an ATV like this in the jungle I totally had to shoot at the heels of some massive deer.
no subject
There wasn't any way around them?
( though una's also not realising just what harley means by massive )
no subject
Oh no, there was a whole herd of 'em, and they were like...15 feet tall!
[A bit of an exaggeration...but not much.]
