( the markets are one of the first places that Una finds herself, the first goal that she had in mind: she needed supplies, she needed to know where things were or what she had access to. and she was hungry. the missing time on the enterprise might have skipped over in their memories but not in her stomach and whilst she didn't know what was possible on this planet -- did replicators exist, were there food kiosks or was it simply a market of ingredients for her to cook?

the street food ends up being the first place that she finds, able to smell out the stalls whilst taking note of the shops that she passes. clothing would... be interested based on what was in the windows of shops but nothing that seemed outrageous or impractical. anything else she hadn't yet managed to come across.

she ends up with some sort of sandwich, not entirely certain what it is but she's in a new place and giving it a try, finding herself somewhere to sit to eat it whilst trying to figure out a plan, of where to browse and what she'd feasibly be able to get herself set up with )

( it's later in the day when una ends up in the coffee shop, when it's not yet quite a pub atmosphere but quiet enough that she can enjoy her coffee, can do a little bit of research on the computers before sitting back to enjoy the music and digest what she's learned.

although that doesn't amount to much. it's a strange new world, strange being key, she's not seen a world quite like this before. she'd tried to look up information on magic, on the chips, on the parties involved but she either didn't get much or ended up with more questions than she'd started with. maybe talking to people would be her solution?

the music is at least enjoyable, giving her the opportunity to watch the people that pass through or stay, to seek out any (newly) familiar faces that she's met within her last few days. her next few weeks are going to be a long road )

( it's more than she's come across before, more realistic, more options... just more. she's seen some of the battle and training simulations that are offered, that are used for training and that have developed over the years but having access to something like this for more recreational means... it's much better than the holograms they had (or used to have) for communication purposes. the people seemed real, felt real, and she could smell the sights around her.

she'd opted for a scenery, somewhere to walk, to just look at what this was capable of recreating rather than any of the visual novels or training rooms that she'd seen offered. it makes una wonder whether she'd be able to program it with something of her own, if she could create her own simulation.

for now, she takes a walk, eventually finding somewhere to sit under a tree and enjoy the sights around her. a sight far different from the camp and markets, from how she'd been rescued. and this could easily make you forget what was on the other side )

I will reach out to them. I may not possess the Doctor's unique bedside manner, but I believe I may be able to offer some level of assistance.

[ Suturing wounds may not be his talent, but he can administer various lab tests and offer his own knowledge of biology. Surely there is something he could offer within his skills. ]

It must be challenging to administer to so many species while cut off from their own homeworld's medical knowledge. I would imagine Doctor McCoy would complain about it a great deal while also refusing to consider not helping them.

There are aspects of it I could describe. [ Apparently there's plenty of people here from some universe that have a version of Earth. But there are others who hadn't ever heard of it at all.

Maybe that was the best softball approach to figure it out. ]

( ... maybe just planets are thinking too small. or too big, would she have to list every planet she knows? what if he knew a planet but it existed in her world and they just hadn't charted it yet? )

Also a tricky question. Last I was on Earth it was...2017? Maybe? Ish. Time travel doesn't usually lend to keeping track of the year.

Depends on whether or not you consider exploration and general adventure a purpose.

If yes, then yes. If no, then you can just call me an idiot with a blue box. [ He pauses, something akin to loss and annoyance flickering in his gaze. ] Or rather, without one.

Is time travel something that exists in your universe?

[When Harley catches her watching what she's doing, she angles her shoulder away so she can get a better view, and gets it all sorted out and idling.]

Oh no, there was a whole herd of 'em, and they were like...15 feet tall!

[A bit of an exaggeration...but not much.]

( not usually. she'd been involved in one instance for a very specific reason. how many other stories had there been that had been locked away as classified after? she hoped not many, it was messy )

( she raises an eyebrow, a little disbelieving at that, though there are certainly a lot of strange things that she's seen on various planets. her own sometimes included in that )

Spaceship? Cars? [ Overheard someone zips by them on a hoverboard. ] Hoverboard?

I feel like those can only show you so much after a certain point. You've never had any interest in time travel?

Not with the dangers involved.

( especially when they didn't actually have it calculated out. not that starfleet would purposely engage in time travel in anywhere in the near (or distant) future. outside of odd occurrences )

Our universe is big enough. We haven't seen all of it, have barely explored it, and even if we did there'd be something new to see that had changed in that time.

I haven't met many yet but those I've seen generally have a humanoid appearance.

( it isn't perfect but humanoid is similar in many ways even if not human. as una personally knows given that she's very not human )

Even some small first aid skill will be useful to them.

[Harley is absolutely confident in her assessment even though it's a bit of an exaggeration. Those deer were totally huge, and she's going to stick by that.]

Probably big cats and other monsters, but the deer were the only ones I saw.

[She gets the engine all started up and checks her gear, and the gear strapped to the ATV.]

The majority are, but the number of humanoids here who have abilities I've never seen or heard of before is far from zero.

[He doesn't want to say 'powers' or 'magic' because it sounds almost comic book like, but he's seen some weird shit.]

To make it even more complicated, practically everyone I've spoken to falls into either one of two categories- they have no idea what Earth is or if it even exists, or they're from Earth and have no idea what Starfleet is. One got close, she had first contact but not with Vulcans.

I'm going to hope not all of the animals are so big.

( if any of them really were that big, she's still not convinced, it'll be one of those things that she has to see )
