The Warrior of Old [Open]
Who: Juhani and YOU
What: Monthly log, will add prompts - also hoping to make new CR and deepen/return to older CR. :)
When: Most post-mission, but can add pre-mission prompts!
Where: Various
Content Warnings: Will add as necessary
Building a Home - OPEN
It was time to properly settle in, and not in one of the pre-fabs that she'd been using. She picks a space near the edge of camp - not as far apart as Ben had, but his nearness to nature was definitely something she wanted to bear in mind. Materials were easy enough to find. Concretes, woods - clay tile for the roofs. Using the Force, she was able to move relatively quickly. She did not use nails, but rather cut joints to bring beams together, bound with thick vines she knew would last. Not that she knew she was here for that long, mind, but - any job worth doing was worth doing well.
The two floors came together over the course of a week, early in the month. The Force aided her with the heavy lifting, though she'd be happy to accept help.
The tricky part? The plumbing. That she had little experience with and worked extensively from books and there were...false starts. Including the first test run where an incorrectly done joint spewed significant amounts of water directly into her face. But...live and learn. And hopefully not be seen as a drowned cat.
Of course, there were secrets. The small cellar space she disguised - just in case of...well, whatever came, really. The hidden space for her lightsaber and any other Jedi artifacts if she were not to carry them. But perhaps her favourite was the clear blue pool of water she'd excavated out back. She'd used Cathar designs there to ensure it was warmed, when she so wished, by a small furnace. Traditionally, it should have been something that burned wood but...well, not everything had to be the hard way.
Every night she slipped into that pool, wearing little or nothing, and just...relaxed. Not an easy task for her. But it was familiar enough, it was...home enough.
And in the mornings, she can be found on the small balcony on the second floor, a warm mug on her hand, watching the sun rise. Something she never misses.
The Jungle Enclave - OPEN
She had previously created a space for the force users to train in. Their numbers had, alas, dwindled - but she did not prod others to use it. They would find their way to it, or they would not. It was the way of the Force.
But she herself was there near daily, training. Hard. Lightsaber practice, time and again, working through exercises in the forms she knew. She has favourites, however: Shien, known as Form V - Shii-Cho, Form I, and Soresu - Form III.
Shien for deflecting ranged energy weapons, and using an enemy's attack against them; Shii-Cho for it's unpredictability in combat - the most underestimated of the forms, she found; and Soresu - defensive in nature, but the form of survival against long odds.
She moved with a fluidity and grace that Jedi of later years might find unusual - but also without the acrobatics that had marked the last years of the Old Republic's Jedi. Wearing simple pants, and a tank top, it is a matter of daily work for her.
In the Trees - OPEN
But nothing beat pure calisthenics - and she found herself particularly at home in the trees. She carried nothing with her save her lightsaber - not even boots. This was a place for claws and climbing abilities, and she worked her way through the branches to the point of near exhaustion, drenched in sweat.
And, perhaps to the perplexing of many, a smile upon her face. It was joyous, to her. Natural. And the ache in the muscles when she was done, well. That was merely proof of success. And to be soothed in the pool, later, which gave her something to look forward to.

"What is that? I felt...something. Like an energy, but one I've never felt before."
no subject
"It just happens when I fight." Link shrugs. It wasn't really something he could explain, because he didn't know where it came from. It was something that seemed to be unique to him - not a power given from the Slate, or the Spirits of the Champions.
"I dodge. Then time goes slow."
no subject
"Well, something formidable for the enemy." She then holds her open hand out, pulling him in with the Force, to begin the next series of blows.
"I'll have to see about countering it," she says, with a smile. "Well done."
no subject
He might as well be a ragdoll. Whatever series of blows Juhani decides to do next, they are going to hit.
Link's not going to be countering anything, not while he's flailing around in the air like this.
no subject
She steps back again, watching carefully.
"You are unharmed? I was unsure that would even affect you - I'm surprised by the effect."
It's more than she usually gets.
no subject
"You pulled me!" Link says, astonished. In what he can remember of his life, Link has faced many things - but he'd never been pulled through the air by an invisible force before.

If Link could magically push enemies away, he would do it all the time.

no subject
Most of the time, though, it was usually just Link.
"Distance is slower. But less dangerous."
no subject
"True enough, and our smartest opponents generally make use of that - but it the eternal role of a Jedi to put ourselves between the cruel and the vulnerable."
no subject
But he can understand. Even if he can't remember it, before the Calamity...Link probably used to fight that way too.
"You could use a shield," he suggests.
no subject
She pauses.
"That being said, energy shields of various kinds are also fairly common where I'm from. Though I understand they disappear somewhat in the future, which is a strange thing."
no subject
(He missed having those shields. They were always really, really good.
"...Are we still fighting?" He asks, then. Because he's not sure. They seem to have ended up talking, instead.
no subject
"It seems we have moved on," she replies. "But I have gained a better appreciation for your skills in battle, and how I might fight alongside them. And neither of us in injured. And, come the end, we part as friends."
In other words, how it's supposed to be done.
no subject
"You're good too," Link says, because she was. "You're quick! Like lizalfos."
no subject
"I will assume that is a compliment," she replies. "And in turn, your abilities are astonishing. I am glad you are on our side, Friend Link."
no subject
He's unphased by the compliments to his own skill. Link already knows that he's good at fighting. But he says, "Thank you," anyway. Followed by, "Bye," - because the spar's over now, and Link's itching to move onto the next thing.
It's maybe not the most graceful way to end a conversation.
no subject
"Farewell, Friend Link."
