The light flickers off his deathly pale skin skeletal looking, only one ear partially present. Vader's voice is quiet enough that doesn't carry well - this is one of the friendlier ghosts however, and Vader's questions may only partially be heard due to her biology, but the ghosts answers? Those can be heard - he's asking history questions.
