For now, though, they need to clear out this plant, and while it can move perfectly fine, Mikumo has seen enough strangeness in her short time for her to not necessarily assume that means it's sentient. And when it goes for her, she reacts as one naturally would - making a side-sweeping sort of movement with the hoverboard to get it out of the way, she swings the machete at the striking tendril, the arc of the blade essentially running right through the area where her board was a moment ago and where the tendril just so helpfully threw itself into.]
