Even if they know a terrible fate awaited where they were going, some people will take the devil they know over anything they don't, and there are still one or two people who seem unconvinced they can't return to their families. Thankfully, one of the people who clearly had some experience with what happens to those that cross the Sylphid has lingered back too, so that gives her some extra support.

If nothing else, one of the adults in the group moves to try and comfort the child once they start crying, but Mikumo does look a little unimpressed at the fact that none of them thought to cover the child's eyes in however long it took Harley to kill the Sylphid.
