Fortunately, the robotic dog hasn't been programmed to sound like a real one: the noise it emits when struck is a sharp, shrill klaxon, and the grinding sound of a pneumatic joint suddenly misaligned by the spells impact. It staggers, but doesn't go down, racing three-legged toward the source of the attack.
Unfortunately, it's not alone. Another robot leaps - rather more agilely - out of the back of the truck, thin triangular head turning as it scans the field for other threats. The lens, alas, is bulletproof, as Layla finds to her displeasure when she tries to shoot it out.
