Visindy wraps up the spell with a gesture, flicking her fingers at both of them, and the cord flares brighter for a moment, then slides off, leaving only the spell. And Marc is-- smiling. There's Layla, right there. And Layla, right there. She's happy. She's excited. And he can tell, not just from her expression, but something else. He can feel it, just kind of on the edge of awareness, like what it feels like to be on the inside but not wholly gone, feeling Steven going about his daily tasks.
